We are looking to expand the number of girls we serve in Mt. Vernon and need female mentors who can meet with the girls after school on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 4:30pm. We are hoping to match over 40 girls with positive student and adult role models. Won’t you consider being a mentor? Applications will be accepted starting Friday, August 28th, 2009. Please note: All mentors must be fingerprinted unless you are a current employee of the Mt. Vernon School District. Mentoring will begin in October of 2009. Mentor training night is schedule for Monday, September 14th, 2009 at 7:30-9:00p.m. For more information please contact Pamela Minyard at pamela@giolai.org.

On June 18, 2009 Giolai organization gave ten (10)Giolai GLAM girls from New Rochelle High School Dell desktop computers with flat screen monitors. Congratulations ladies!!!!

Congratulations to Emily George (1st place winner) and Sandra Honigman (2nd place winner) of this years Sister-to-Sister International, Inc. United Nation Essay Contest. Seventeen Giolai GLAM girls attended this event which had over 60 students from Westchester County Schools. We thank Cheryl Brannan and her organization for always providing the girls with a global mission!
